Change plan

Your practice evolves: you can upgrade or downgrade at any time, with no interruption of service. This article explains where to do it and what happens depending on the direction of the change.

Understanding plan changes

Everything happens in Plan & billing, on the Plan & change tab. The change is never abrupt: its effect depends on the direction.

  • Upgrade (higher plan) — effect is immediate. The new plan's features are unlocked right away, and billing is calculated pro-rata until your next renewal.
  • Downgrade (lower plan) — effect at the end of your current billing cycle. You keep your current features until then, after which a banner reminds you of the scheduled change (which you can cancel).

The How does changing plans work? block restates these rules directly in the tab, along with what happens to your remaining import credit (kept on an upgrade, reduced proportionally on a downgrade).

Changing plan

  1. Open Plan & billing, then the Plan & change tab.
  2. Choose the billing period with the Monthly / Yearly selector (annual carries the 2 months free badge).
  3. On the target plan, click Choose [plan] (upgrade) or Downgrade to [plan] (downgrade). To only change the billing period, use Switch to annual / Switch to monthly.
  4. Depending on the direction of the change, the effect is immediate or goes through a confirmation:
    • Upgrade — applied directly, with no confirmation window: the new features unlock at once.
    • Downgrade or billing-period change — a summary window recaps the new price and the effective date; you validate to confirm.

Good to know: if you're still on your Trial, choosing a plan starts the subscription directly (via the secure payment portal) — that action ends the trial and triggers the first charge.

A downgrade can be blocked if your usage exceeds the target plan's limits (message Downgrade not possible). The most common case: switching to Starter with too many active clients — Klarity then tells you how many clients to archive and offers a Manage my active clients button. Archive the requested number (or choose a compatible plan), then start the downgrade again.

💡 Tip: annual billing also applies to plan changes. If your usage is now stable, it's the right moment to enjoy the 2 months free.
