Following a client's trajectory: objectives, engagements and check-ins

The Trajectory tab of the client record follows a client's progress over time: what they're aiming for, what they committed to do, and where they stand. It's your coaching dashboard, between two sessions as well as across the months.

Understanding objectives and engagements

Two notions coexist in this tab, and Klarity distinguishes them clearly — a callout reminds you at the top of the tab:

  • Objectives are the goals of the coaching. You set them and refine them, manually.
  • Engagements are what the client committed to do. They are detected automatically by the AI from your sessions; you just follow up on them. So you have nothing to enter: they appear on their own after a captured session.

A numeric overview of this trajectory (sessions completed, average cadence, engagement honor rate, open engagements) also shows at the top of the Overview tab from the first session held.

Setting the coaching objectives

At the top of the Objectives card, the Reason for coaching summarizes in a few words why this client comes to you. Click the pencil (or Add the reason for coaching) to fill it in — it's free text that only you complete.

  1. Click Add to create an objective. Fill in its Statement, an optional Due date and an optional Progress note.
  2. The objective appears in the list with the Active status. The actions menu then lets you Mark as achieved, Abandon, Reopen, Edit or Delete it.
  3. Reorder your active objectives with the Move up / Move down arrows to bring the current priorities to the top.

Deleting an objective doesn't touch the linked engagements: they stay in the follow-up.

Following the engagements detected by the AI

The Engagements card lists what the client committed to do, session after session. Each engagement carries, depending on the case, a link to its Source session, a Recurring badge, and a Due date (detected automatically from what was said during the session). An engagement whose due date has passed shows an Overdue badge.

The buttons at the top of the card filter the list by status: To follow, Honored, Missed, Dropped.

For each engagement to follow, you can:

  • Qualify it via the Status button: Mark as honored, Mark as missed or Drop. Resolved engagements can be reopened at any time (Reopen).
  • Click Add to my tasks to turn it into a follow-up task. Once converted, the engagement shows Already in my tasks.

Converting an engagement into a task is part of the Tasks feature, included from the Professional plan. On the Starter plan, Klarity will offer to upgrade you to a higher plan.

If the AI mistakenly turned a remark into an engagement, open the menu and choose Delete: the engagement is removed from the follow-up and from the honor-rate calculation, without affecting the session.

Between-session check-ins

A check-in is a short message that Klarity automatically sends the client as an engagement's due date approaches, to ask how it's going. Their reply comes back in the record and enriches their memory: it's a way to keep the connection between two sessions, effortlessly.

This feature is disabled by default and is controlled from your settings.

Enabling check-ins

  1. Go to Settings › Sessions & memory.
  2. Turn on Between-session check-ins. Klarity will then send the client a short message near the due date of a dated engagement (reply without an account).

Customizing the message

Under an engagement to follow that has a due date, click Customize check-in to write your own message. Left empty, the text of the engagement itself is used as the question.

A check-in is only sent for an engagement that has a due date — that's what triggers the send. Without a detected due date, no message is sent.

Reading the client's reply

When the client replies, their Client's reply shows directly under the engagement. If the AI detects that the engagement was honored or not, it offers an AI suggestion that you apply in one click with Apply — you stay the decision-maker. Until the client has replied, the engagement shows Check-in sent, awaiting reply.

On the client's side, the link opens a simple page, with no account creation: their first name, the engagement concerned and a reply field. Only their first name and that engagement are visible there.

💡 Tip: enable check-ins for your most independent clients: a light nudge midway is often enough to keep the momentum, and their reply prepares the next session for you.
