Client consent: why and how

Before Klarity can record and summarize a session, the person you're coaching must give their consent. It's a GDPR obligation, but it's built natively into the tool: you have no legal text to draft or manage.


Understanding consent in Klarity


Klarity briefly records, transcribes and then summarizes your sessions for your exclusive use, and feeds each client's smart memory. Processing this personal data requires the client's explicit approval, collected and logged once and for all.


The legal text presented to the client is standardized, reviewed by a GDPR lawyer and identical for every coach. In line with Art. 7 of the GDPR, this consent is freely given, explicit and revocable at any time.


Consent is only for automatic audio capture of sessions. It's never required to coach a client in sessions without audio recording: you can still create the file, schedule sessions and enrich them with text notes. Only audio capture and the report email stay disabled until the agreement is validated.


How consent is collected


  1. When you create the client file, a Consent block lets you choose: send the request by email, attest an agreement already collected in person, or do it later.
  2. If you send the request, your client receives a consent link by email. They open the page, review the privacy framework, then click Give my consent — or Decline.
  3. The status updates on their file, in the Consent tab, and you receive a notification.


Guarantees for the client


  • The audio is deleted within 24 hours of the summary being generated; only the text (transcript) and the summary are kept. Firm guarantee.
  • The client can withdraw their consent at any time, fully on their own, from the personal withdrawal link received by email when they validated it.
  • Each agreement is timestamped and logged in the consent logs (GDPR traceability).


💡 Tip: enable Automatically send the consent link in Settings › Sessions & memory, section Consent, so that "Send the consent request" is pre-selected on every new file — you'll never have to think about it.
