Memory Chat modes: Client, Practice, Pilot
Memory Chat works in three modes. Each one determines what the assistant consults to answer and the form of its reply. Picking the right mode means getting the type of answer you expect straight away.
Understanding the modes
The mode is chosen at the top of the screen, before you ask your question. The three modes don't tell Memo to look at the same thing: one focuses on a single person, another sweeps across your whole practice, the last counts your activity. Here's what each one is for in detail and when to use it.
Client mode
A conversation focused on one specific client. The assistant consults only that client's memory: their sessions, their summaries and your notes about them.
- When to use it — to prepare a session or review an individual trajectory.
- What it consults — the entire memory of the selected client, and that client only.
- Specificity — you must first pick the client via Choose a client…. The client's consent is required: without consent, their memory can't be used and the picker says so ("No consent — memory unavailable"). Answers point back to their sessions through citations.
- Example — "Where does Sophie stand on her relationship to authority?"
Practice mode
A qualitative exploration across your whole practice, all clients combined. Ideal for stepping back and taking a broader view of your activity.
- When to use it — to detect patterns, recurrences or themes that cut across several engagements.
- What it consults — all of your sessions and clients. The header shows the scope analyzed ("Your whole practice", number of clients and sessions).
- Specificity — citations are anonymized by default (labeled "Anonymized citations"), to stay GDPR-compliant when you reason across several clients at once.
- Example — "What recurring blockers do my clients in transition share?"
Pilot mode
Volume and counter questions about your activity. This is the "numbers" mode of your practice.
- When to use it — to learn quantities: number of sessions, of clients, workload over a period.
- What it consults — your activity counters (sessions, clients, weekly load), not the qualitative content of the sessions.
- Specificity — answers are numeric and without citations. Memo shows ready-to-use visuals: a Practice metrics block, a Breakdown by channel donut and a Weekly load chart. It does not, however, generate an export or a chart on request — if you ask for one, it tells you so ("Pilot answers in text only; export or charts aren't available").
- Example — "How many sessions do I have this week?"
Which mode for which question
- A question about one person (trajectory, session prep) → Client mode.
- A cross-cutting question (trends, recurrences, "which clients…") → Practice mode.
- A counting question (how many, how often, what load) → Pilot mode.
