Managing and deleting your notifications
Over the weeks, your list fills up. Klarity gives you four gestures to keep it readable: mark as read, archive, handle several notifications at once, and permanently delete what you no longer need.
Understanding read, archived and deleted
It's helpful to tell the three states apart, because they don't have the same effect:
- Read — you've taken note of the notification. It leaves the Unread tab and the badge decrements, but it stays in All. A notification is marked read automatically as soon as you open its detail.
- Archived — you tuck it away out of the main view. It moves to the Archived tab; you can find it there at any time.
- Deleted — it's removed permanently. There's no trash bin: a deletion can't be undone.
Acting on a notification
Hover over a notification in the list: quick actions appear on the right.
- Mark as read / Mark as unread — toggles the read state. (Keyboard shortcut:
Ron the selected notification.) - Archive — files the notification into the Archived tab. (Keyboard shortcut:
E.) The action doesn't appear if the notification is already archived. - More actions — opens a menu containing Delete.
You'll find these same actions in the detail panel, top right when you open a notification.
Handling several notifications at once
Tick the checkbox of several notifications: a bulk-actions bar shows at the top of the list and indicates the number of selected notifications. Depending on your selection, you can:
- Mark read — offered if at least one selected notification is unread;
- Archive — offered if at least one selected notification isn't archived yet;
- Delete — always available;
- Cancel selection — to untick everything.
To go even faster, the bottom of the filters column offers two global actions: Mark all as read and Archive all read. If a category is filtered, these actions apply only to that category.
Deleting permanently
- Start the deletion from a notification's More actions menu, from the detail panel, or via the Delete button of the multi-selection bar.
- A confirmation window opens. Confirm with Delete.
