# The privacy of your client data

Klarity is a **French** tool, built for the GDPR. This article recaps what is kept, for how long, and the associated guarantees — enough to answer a client's questions with confidence.

# Understanding where to look

All this information and your rights are managed from **Settings › Privacy & GDPR**. You'll find four blocks there: **Your data** (what is stored), **Data retention** (retention periods), **AI improvement** (your contribution to response quality) and **Export my data**.

# Your data

- **Profile and account** — your identity, email, settings.
- **Client files** — the longitudinal history of your clients.
- **Transcripts and summaries** — added to your smart memory.
- **Enrichment notes** — your annotations per client and per session.
- **Consent logs** — the traceability of agreements.

# Data retention

- **Transcripts and summaries** — engagement duration.
- **Memory Chat history** — configurable duration, shown in the block.
- **Consent logs** — engagement **+ 5 years** (GDPR obligation).
- **Session audio** — deleted **within 24 hours of the summary being generated**, after which only the text and the summary remain. Firm GDPR guarantee.

# AI improvement

When you rate an AI response (the 👍 / 👎 thumb under a session summary or a Memory Chat message), this feedback helps our team spot the responses worth improving. The **AI improvement** block controls this contribution via the **Contribute to improving Klarity's AI** option, enabled by default.

- **Enabled** — your 👍/👎 votes reach the Klarity team, anonymized, to measure and adjust response quality.
- **Disabled** — your votes have no effect on Klarity's side; you keep seeing the buttons, but nothing is transmitted.

| Klarity **never trains any model** on your data. Your feedback is anonymized and used only to measure response quality — no identifiable client verbatim ever leaves your organization.

# Your rights

From the **Export my data** block, you can generate an export (right to portability): a ZIP file containing all your data is sent to you by email (within 24 hours maximum). If an export is already ready, you can **download** it directly.

| Only one export can be in progress at a time. If you relaunch too soon, a message invites you to try again later.

To erase the data of a **single client** (rather than your whole account), use the right to erasure on their file: **Consent** tab, **Erase all data** action. It permanently deletes that client's sessions, summaries, transcripts, notes and smart memory, along with their file. You must retype their full name and confirm the client asked for it — the action is irreversible.

||| Account deletion, in the **Delete my account** zone, erases your account, your clients, your sessions and all associated data. Irreversible action, in line with the GDPR right to erasure.

| 💡 **Tip:** the legal framework presented to your clients is hosted in France and reviewed by a GDPR lawyer — you can share it with full confidence.
