# Memory Chat modes

| Feature available from the **Professional** plan (unlocked during the free trial).

Memory Chat works in **five modes**. Each one determines what the assistant consults to answer and the form of its reply. Picking the right mode means getting the type of answer you expect straight away.

# Understanding the modes

The mode is chosen at the top of the screen, before you ask your question. The five modes don't tell Memo to look at the same thing: one focuses on a single person, another sweeps across your whole practice, another counts your activity, and the last two target a group or a company. Here's what each one is for in detail and when to use it.

# Client mode

A conversation focused on **one specific client**. The assistant consults only that client's memory: their sessions, their summaries and your notes about them.

- **When to use it** — to prepare a session or review an individual trajectory.
- **What it consults** — the entire memory of the selected client, and that client only.
- **Specificity** — you must first pick the client via **Choose a client…**. The client's consent is required: without consent, their memory can't be used and the picker says so ("No consent — memory unavailable"). Answers point back to their sessions through citations.
- **Example** — "Where does Sophie stand on her relationship to authority?"

|| A client is only usable if they've given their consent. Without consent, no memory is available for them in Client mode.

# Practice mode

A **qualitative exploration across your whole practice**, all clients combined. Ideal for stepping back and taking a broader view of your activity.

- **When to use it** — to detect patterns, recurrences or themes that cut across several engagements.
- **What it consults** — all of your sessions and clients. The header shows the scope analyzed ("Your whole practice", number of clients and sessions).
- **Specificity** — citations are **anonymized by default** (labeled "Anonymized citations"), to stay GDPR-compliant when you reason across several clients at once.
- **Example** — "What recurring blockers do my clients in transition share?"

# Pilot mode

**Volume and counter** questions about your activity. This is the "numbers" mode of your practice.

- **When to use it** — to learn quantities: number of sessions, of clients, workload over a period.
- **What it consults** — your activity counters (sessions, clients, weekly load), not the qualitative content of the sessions.
- **Specificity** — answers are **numeric and without citations**. Memo shows ready-to-use visuals: a **Practice metrics** block, a **Breakdown by channel** donut and a **Weekly load** chart. It does not, however, generate an export or a chart on request — if you ask for one, it tells you so ("Pilot answers in text only; export or charts aren't available").
- **Example** — "How many sessions do I have this week?"

# Group mode

A conversation focused on **one group or workshop**. The assistant consults the shared memory of that group's participants.

- **When to use it** — to explore a group or workshop dynamic: themes that keep coming up, common ground, topics to work on collectively.
- **What it consults** — the memory of the selected group's members.
- **Specificity** — you first pick the group via **Choose a group…**. You can zoom in on a specific participant by mentioning them with **@**. The group is fixed for the current conversation: to change it, start a new conversation.
- **Example** — "What themes keep coming up in this cohort?"

# Company mode

A conversation focused on **one client company**, across all its people.

- **When to use it** — to step back on coaching carried out within a single organization, across its different clients.
- **What it consults** — the memory of all clients attached to the selected company.
- **Specificity** — you first pick the company via **Choose a company…**. You can focus on a specific client by mentioning them with **@**. The company is fixed for the current conversation: to change it, start a new conversation.
- **Example** — "How is the coaching progressing across this company?"

# Which mode for which question

- A question about **one person** (trajectory, session prep) → **Client mode**.
- A **cross-cutting** question (trends, recurrences, "which clients…") → **Practice mode**.
- A **counting** question (how many, how often, what load) → **Pilot mode**.
- A question about **one group or workshop** (collective dynamic, shared themes) → **Group mode**.
- A question about **one client company** (overall coaching within an organization) → **Company mode**.

| 💡 **Tip:** if an answer seems too broad when your question was about a single person, you're probably in **Practice mode** — switch to **Client mode** and select the client concerned.
