# Creating and editing a session type

A session type is a reusable template that describes a coaching format: its name, duration, price, mode and location, and what Klarity triggers automatically after the session. It speeds up appointment creation and structures your booking page.

# Understanding session types

Each type you create can be offered on your **public booking page** and serves as the basis for creating a session manually. The form is organized into sections: **Basic information**, **Duration**, **Pricing**, **Mode & location**, **Smart processing after the session**, **Automatic reminders**, **Public availability** and, if the type is visible online, **Booking form**.

| The mode and location (video, in person, by phone, client's choice) as well as the video platform are set here, in the **Mode & location** section — type by type. See the dedicated article on video links.

|| This article covers **individual session types**. A **group type** (group session) is created separately (**Add a type › Group type**) and has **no pricing, no audio capture, no online booking and no reminders**: it only offers identity, mode and location. A group session is therefore **never bookable** on your public page — you schedule it yourself from a group.

# Creating a type

1. In **Agenda › Session types**, click **Add a type**.

2. Fill in the **Basic information** section: **Name** (e.g. "Follow-up session"), a short **Description**, **Icon** and **Accent color**.

3. In **Duration**, choose a preset duration or "Custom" (5 to 240 minutes).
4. In **Pricing**, choose **Free** or **Paid** (amount + payment method). Payment isn't handled by Klarity: the price is purely informational.
5. In **Mode & location**, choose the **Default mode** (Video, In person, By phone or Client's choice) and, for video, the **Video platform**. With **Client's choice**, it's the client who decides video or in person at booking time.
6. Set the **Smart processing after the session** (pre-session briefing, smart client memory, report draft…) and the **Automatic reminders** if needed. The **Record audio and generate a summary** option can be unchecked for formats with no coaching content (a simple admin call, for example): the session will then be neither recorded nor summarized. On the reminders side, an **immediate confirmation email** goes out as soon as the booking is made (can't be disabled); you can also turn on an **email reminder** before the session and choose its lead time (2 days before by default).
7. In **Public availability**, keep **Visible on my public booking page** checked so it's bookable online. If you **uncheck** it, the type stays usable for manually created sessions but **won't appear** on your public page (and the audience and form settings below disappear, since they only concern online booking).
8. Still in **Public availability** (shown only if the type is public), set **Who can book this type?**: **Anyone** (open to everyone, including new contacts), **Existing clients** (at least one past session with you, of any type) or **Having done this type** (at least one past session of this specific type). A client who doesn't meet the condition can't book this type.
9. In **Booking form** (shown only if the type is public), choose which fields the client fills in when booking. **Name**, **email** and **gender** are always required; you can make **Phone number** and **Notes / Comments** required, optional or hidden, and add your own **Custom questions**.
10. Click **Create**. The type appears in the list and, if it's visible, on your public page.

# AI settings for the session type

The **Smart processing after the session** section doesn't just drive the summary: it's also where you set the AI preparation ahead of each session of this type. The options depend on the type's **modality**.

## Individual type

- **Automatic pre-session briefing** — *Recommended for follow-up sessions. Off by default for discovery sessions.* Once enabled, Klarity prepares a briefing before each session of this type, from the client's history.
- **Pre-session questionnaire for the coach** — *For your eyes only — never sent to the client. 3 to 5 targeted questions before each session.* This questionnaire is **included in the briefing**: enable the **automatic pre-session briefing** above first to be able to add it.
- **Pre-session briefing template** — the selector for the template that structures the core of the briefing for this type. *Applies to the next briefing generation — briefings already generated are not regenerated.* With no selection, the type uses the practice's default briefing template, then Klarity's standard outline.

| The pre-session questionnaire only appears once the automatic pre-session briefing is enabled: *Included in the briefing — enable the automatic pre-session briefing above to add it.*

## Group type

- **Automatic group briefing** — *Prepares each group session with a collective briefing, generated after the previous session. Off by default — adds an AI processing step to every session of the group.* This is an **opt-in** option: it stays **off** until you enable it.
- Once the group briefing is enabled, you get the **pre-session questionnaire** and the **pre-session briefing template** (collective modality), on the same principle as for an individual type.

# Editing, reordering, deleting

- **Editing** a type opens its full form; **drag** a row to reorder types — the order is reflected on your public page.
- **Deleting** a type: past sessions of this type are kept, but no future session will be able to use it anymore.

|| Deletion is blocked if the type is used by **upcoming sessions**: reschedule or cancel them first ("View upcoming sessions").

| 💡 **Tip:** a type marked **Free** shows "Free" instead of a price on your booking page — ideal for a discovery session.
